The AlpinExpress Pass is a travel initiative created by Montagne Verte aimed at promoting train travel to the Alps as an alternative to flying. As air travel is by far the biggest contributor to the carbon footprint associated with ski holidays, the AlpinExpress Pass offers a way for guests to significantly reduce their environmental impact, all while availing exclusive discounts within the Portes du Soleil area.
Recognising that train travel to ski destinations may not always be the most cost-effective or fastest option, Montagne Verte has partnered with various businesses across the Portes du Soleil area, including Mountain & Tradition, to offer exclusive discounts for people who use the train as their main mode of transport to the ski resorts of Morzine, Avoriaz, and Les Gets.
See the Montagne Verte website for the full list of available discounts.
To activate your AlpinExpress Pass, you'll just need to follow the following 4-step process:
Although it doesn't include a discount on your train ticket, the pass offers savings on accommodation, ski transfers, lessons, lift passes, and more from a range of local businesses. To be eligible, your train journey must start more than 100km from Morzine. Additionally, the pass is only valid if the train is the primary mode of transport — taking the train to an airport and then flying, for example, does not qualify.
